Snapped Bolt Policy

They say that every 10 minute job is one snapped bolt away from being a 3-day ordeal - and we’ve certainly had our fair share of this recently!!

We have several ways of removing snapped bolts: Easy-outs, stud removers, drilling and re-tapping, Heli-coils, Heat, Impact tools, Swearing - some work better than others but it's worth mentioning that snapped bolts DO HAPPEN. Maybe not on your bike - this time… but they do happen.

Manufacturers like to use steel and titanium bolts in aluminium castings and dissimilar metal corrosion can wreak havoc on bolts and studs that haven’t moved in years. Problems tend to be around areas that suffer frequent heat cycles, such as exhaust studs and clamps, and bolts exposed to the elements such as around fork lowers. Early production bikes from the 2000’s were prone to using cheaper, softer grades of steel in their fixings and can be problematic anywhere on the machine.

With this in mind, Yeomoto makes the following promise:

The only tools that will touch fixings on your bike when we visit will be Snap-on, or a tool of equal quality. Specialist tools are typically supplied by Motion-Pro, Laser or Sealey Professional - you will not find unbranded eBay “specials” in our van!

We only use quality tools when servicing your bike, tools we purchase from long-standing suppliers who guarantee their quality which allows us in turn to guarantee our workmanship. We invest in these tools to remove the old adage “A bad workman blames his tools” - Thus we do everything we can to ensure there are no issues while working on your bike.

We always torque back to manufacturers specifications.

The small print made large:

Should a bolt or stud break on your bike due to corrosion or metal fatigue, we will do our utmost to remove what remains in the least damaging way possible and to repair it in such a way that the “fix” is stronger than the original failure. However, there has to be a limit to the time we spend trying to extract bolt/studs. Should a bolt be found to be stuck, or worse; snap, you will be informed immediately and we’ll stop the clock for 30 minutes to try and fix the issue. If, after 30 minutes has elapsed, the bolt/nut/stud has not been removed and rectified, the clock starts again and any time spent repairing will be added to your bill at the standard hourly rate.
